Aviastar Reviews 2017
Indonesian “Aviastar” was the brainchild of Capt. Sugeng Triyono and four other colleagues, when it started as a helicopter charter services company in 2000 to become one of the country’s growing domestic passenger airlines.
Our Aviastar reviews look at the airline from Indonesia and what are its most basic services and features, what passengers thought of their inflight experience, and more information.
Background and History
Aviastar, headquartered in East Jakarta, Jakarta Indonesia, flies to 30 destinations some of them being Balikpapan – Melak, Jakarta – Muara Bungo, and Jakarta – Ketapang. They were established on June 12, 2000 and record their foundation at 2003, with the commencement of operations using fixed wing aircraft: 2 units of De Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otters.
Aviastar has operating bases in Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Ngurah Rai International Airport, Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, Tjilik Riwut Airport, Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Airport, and Nabire Airport. As of August 2016, Aviastar has 3 British Aerospace 146-200 and 5 De Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otter. M. Sundoro is Aviastar’s President and CEO; Sugeng Triyono is its Chairman.
What Users Have to Say
There aren’t much Aviastar reviews online, though on Flight-report, they had an average 6.3 out of 10 star-rating. On other reviews sites, travellers expressed their confusion over how to book with Aviastar – with some noting that the airline’s contact phone and website address had recently changed – or that there was “no result” for their booking needs.
Real passengers, however, found their Aviastar flight experience satisfying enough, not far from the rest of low-cost carriers from Europe, with minimal but acceptable onboard services and good airport amenities and procedures. Aviastar was rated with 7.5 out of 10 for both cabin condition and cabin crew service: hostesses graciously served passengers even on shorter flights. “No problems with the flight itself; very pleasantly surprised by the gentleness of the take-off and the landing,” concludes one of the Aviastar reviews.
Frankly, their website’s riddled with grammatical errors and a rather dull sometimes confusing layout and design. Apparently, “Fly Safe and Comfort,” had been adopted as Aviastar’s company slogan, showing on their official website below their airline brand icon.
Images on their pages show intimate airline maintenance or services. When we checked out their General Services, the following were listed as some of the air operator’s varied services: “Regular Flight, Contract aircraft charter, Spot aircraft charter, Aircraft maintenance services, Aircraft management services, Training, including Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) and Helipad Surveillance training, Aircraft and spare part trading.” Mostly, the information on their website pertain to the airline company, fleet, routes, partners, news and info, and even career opportunities with them.

Aviastar may be hard to reach, but an excellent experience with them onboard is not. Any problems arranging your booking with them are helped by the warm welcome people eventually feel when they fly with Aviastar.
